"Note that there are several variations in the listing. Im reviewing the ebony toned shelf, 5 tiers with a weight capacity of 500 pounds total (with wheels) up to 2,500 pounds total (without wheels, on feet) in a 36x 18 x 72. (Note that the weight capacity will be different by the size of shelf.)
This is a good value for a very nice, good quality, sturdy metal wire shelf with 5 total shelves or tiers. Its extremely well made of a sturdy metal and wire construction. Its good for home, office, garage and warehouse use (within the weight capacity limits). I dont think anyone will be disappointed in the quality, style and how attractive it is if its the right fit for your area and decor.
There are several variations. These are the specifications for the 60 x 18 x 72 size.
Size:
-Height: 72 tall
-Width: 60wide
-Depth: 18 front to back depth
Weight capacity total (not per shelf but the entire shelf system in the size, it will vary by the shelf size)
-With wheels: 500 pounds total, or about 100 pounds per shelf (with 5 shelves)
-Without wheels: 2,500 pounds total, or about 500 pounds per shelf (with 5 shelves)
-Weight capacity is NSF certified.
In this variation there are 5 shelves. They are fully adjustable on where you put them on the 4 legs. The 4 legs have areas that look like round bamboo rings that are 1 apart. So the increments are 1 adjustments. Meaning you can place the shelves pretty much anywhere on the legs as the legs are fully covered in rings 1 apart.
Note that in the ebony variation, its a nice mate, non-glossy powder coat finish thats well done. If youve seen or used some shelves with a plastic coating or liner over the metal, its not that style. Its much better as it doesnt wear and crack over time like a plastic coating or liner. If over time you ever needed to touch up the shelf color or wanted to repaint it, you could likely use a metal friendly paint over it.
I have a similar wire metal shelf almost in the exact same style, size and shelf number from a different brand in the silver tone. I also have several other smaller silver toned wire racks and shelves. This is my first one in the ebony tone. The quality of this one is as good as the others I have and they are all good quality. The ebony tone is just as good in quality as the silver toned shelves.
Having had both color tones, they are both nice and it depends on the look you want and the environment youre using them in. The ebony toned shelf goes well with other ebony toned items and furniture and looks a bit more like furniture than the silver toned shelves. These shelves look nice and work well not only for garage, pantry or kitchen storage but for general household and office storage as well.
Where I would suggest it would work well for use (within the weight capacity): garages, sheds, pantries, closets, linen closets, kitchens, offices, living rooms..
Note that no shelf liners or shelving material comes with the shelves. Note that the shelves are open wire with no shelf surface solid material or solid liner. There are gaps between the wires running horizontally so small items or items with legs can fall through the gaps. You dont get any shelf cover or shelf liner material to use on the shelves. Its a fairly common size so youll likely be able to find shelf liners on your own if you want to. They do make thin plastic ones that fit this size of shelf. Some of my other shelves like this did come with them, some did not, as this one does not.
Note that no storage bins or containers come with the shelf. Id suggest getting some of your own to use with it.
Note that the upper, higher 2,500 pound total weight capacity is rated for use without wheels but on stationary feet. The lower 500 pound rating is with wheels. You have to use it without wheels but with the flat, stationary feet and no wheels to use it with the higher weight limit.
The weight limit is for the entire shelf between all 5 shelves, not for each shelf. So the 2,500 pound total weight limit without wheels for 5 total shelves is about 500 pounds per shelf. The lower weight limit with wheels is a total of 500 pounds for 5 total shelves for about 100 pounds per shelf. Dont overload the shelves and load them evenly weight distribution wise.
You may want to consider anchoring securely it to a wall for safety as it can be a heavy weight tipping hazard, especially if anyone climbs or pulls on it or it tips. This is true for all shelves, not just this shelf or specific to this shelf.
Note that you must assemble this yourself fully, it is not pre-assembled. Having put this size and style of wire shelf together before more than once and several smaller ones, Id make a few suggestions. If you have a helper to help you put it together its easier with two people putting it together vs just one person. You can do it yourself if you had to but its much harder to do by yourself. If you have someone help you with the lowest shelf you ...
