3 Game Day Party Tips to Seal Your MVP Hosting Status

It doesn’t matter if you know a blitz from a pick six. A football watch party is a fun excuse for an impromptu at-home gathering this fall. With an expanded NFL season and more college games available via streaming, there’s no shortage of games to choose from. This week we’ll break down some of football season’s appeal and highlight some tips and solutions for making a watch party a snap.
Football Fans – and Fans of the Party
There are a few things that come to mind when we think of fall…apples, pumpkins, falling leaves. But for many people in the U.S., fall also means football. And football means tailgates, at-home game watches, fantasy football leagues, and so much more.
(Full disclosure: We at TRINITY enjoy a….ahem….very robust fantasy football league that’s open to all employees. It gives us months of friendly competition and fun opportunities to make connections across all our offices. And yes, the bragging rights are huge. Just like the belt – which rivals a WWE champion’s – that we pass along to each year’s winner.
TRINITY employees aside, football is by far Americans’ favorite sport. (In a recent Gallup poll, 41% said they liked football the most, which placed yards ahead of baseball - 10% and basketball – 9%.) But again, some people are just there for the party. After all, the ads and half-time show seem to get as much attention at the Super Bowl as the game itself.
Keep It Simple
Where to start? This is not the time for four-course meals. We advise keeping things simple with a big pot of chili or a buffet of finger foods that guests can snack on throughout the game.
No need to stand on ceremony at one of these get-togethers. Don’t be afraid to ask guests to bring a dish to share. Or better yet, pull together a standing group of friends you can rotate the hosting gigs with – and split the cost of streaming, thanks to all the services that now have rights to different games in any given week.
Help Yourself
Another way to keep it simple is making all the food and drinks self serve. Our sleek stainless steel rolling cooler cart works well at game watch parties, but really, parties of all kinds. (You can also detach the cooler itself on some models.) The only thing better is our foosball cooler cart…which adds a working foosball table to the top of the cooler…and comes in charcoal gray or electric green.
To serve in style – and sustainably, may we suggest serving boards and coasters from our sister company, Renew by TRINITY. These attention-getters are also versatile enough for all your gatherings. What’s more, they tell an incredible story of upcycling used chopsticks.
Take It Outside
Our final tip? If it’s a nice day, take advantage of Wi-Fi and those streaming services and take the party outside. It’s a great way to enjoy two of the best parts of fall: football and crisp cool weather. Plus you can channel the spirit of an onsite tailgate this way, complete with grills, pop-up tents and cornhole.
Don’t worry about seating at an outdoor gathering. Portable bag chairs work fine, as do multi-functional stools like these from TRINITY that can easily be carried from inside. Also, multi-purpose wire carts on wheels can easily act as drink stations, grilling stations, or any other role you’ve got in mind.
