Celebrating Our Dogs – And Our Homes

Happy National Dog Month! If you own a dog, you probably don’t need a holiday as motivation to pamper your pooch. (After all, 97% of pet owners consider their pets to be part of the family.)
But we at Trinity know that taking care of them – and your home in the process – can be a lot of work. That’s why we decided to offer some solutions that will help dog moms and dads take care of their homes – and themselves – while caring for their pets.
Read on for tips and products that will help everyone feel happier, healthier, and mess-free.
On second thought, let’s just go for “less messy.”
Cleaning Up
Between constant shedding, muddy paws and that pesky dog smell, canines aren’t always the cleanest. You probably already know that wet mops and robotic vacuums can be life-savers. But did you know sprinkling baking soda on the carpet once a week before you vacuum can help absorb odors? Regular dusting and curtain cleaning are also helpful for minimizing pet dander and smells.
You might also want to look for area rugs that are machine washable or designated for indoor/outdoor use. Recent advances in outdoor fabrics means you might even find furniture or throw pillows that are appropriate for indoor use. They’re generally stronger, easier to clean, and may even repel water and dirt.
Bath Time
Of course, regularly bathing your dog is also a good way to keep your house clean. (Easier said than done, right?) We’re not dog whisperers, but we do know a thing or two about setting yourself up with the right gear.
Our freestanding utility sinks are NSF certified, as well as UPC and cUPC certified for safe and sanitary plumbing. They feature a removable dual-spray faucet – perfect for gently wetting and rinsing – and a storage shelf below to keep everything you need at arm’s length (whether shampoo, a towel or treats). Mounting hardware and feet levelers are included; multiple sizes available.
Saving Space
When you consider all the food, toys and gear involved, having a dog can take up a lot of space. And that might not necessarily be something you’ve got a lot of right now.
If you’d like to consolidate space – or say goodbye to that ugly wire crate that’s hanging out in your living room or bedroom – take a look at our crates that actually double as attractive end tables or accent tables. They’re still fully functional with a mesh lockable two-sided gate and a removable plastic tray for easy clean-up.
Everything in One Place
In addition to saving space, having all your dog-related gear together – and where you need it – will help you feel calmer and more in control. It may even mean not having to contend with muddy footprints all through your house.
A wire cart like this one that lives near the door is perfect for housing anything you’ll need for going on a walk – whether a leash, sweater, poop bags, or favorite ball. Then when you come in again, it’s simple to put it all away for next time. We also think it pays big-time to always have a towel right inside any entry door for wiping your dog’s feet or any mess they got into outside.
If you’ve got room, an entryway bench with shoe storage also makes an excellent command center for this type of gear. Just pop a basket or box on the end of the bench or on one of the shelves. Bonus: You’ve got a place to sit while you put on your shoes or wipe their paws clean on the way in.
