Ever enjoyed a bowl of pad thai or popped some delicious sushi in your mouth only to toss your chopsticks in the trash moments later? Um, yes. We probably all have. And maybe a lot.
Not too long ago, we learned that 1.5 billion single-use bamboo chopsticks are discarded around the globe every week. Every week!
That’s a lot of waste. And that’s why we at TRINITY have expanded our commitment to quality craftsmanship, mindful manufacturing and sustainable materials by launching a brand new line of products made from 100% reclaimed chopsticks.
Yes, you read that right. We’re proud to introduce RENEW by TRINITY – a home and housewares brand that sets a new standard for sustainability with planet-first, artisan-crafted products for the home.
Sustainability and Sophistication
Let us be the first to say RENEW isn’t just about products that have a good environmental story. We knew we wanted to make sure they were also attractive and useful. That’s why we worked hard to transform chopsticks – which typically live a short life and then go straight to a landfill – into modern, eye-catching pieces you’ll use often, if not every day.
Each unique RENEW item is made to both stand out AND stand up to climate change. In fact, we like to say these upcycled products are as good as new…but so much better.
The cutting boards are meticulously crafted with bold, unique patterns and designed to be shown off. The coaster set has a number of engraving themes you can choose from. The coffee table commands attention in the center of your room.
How It Works
How does this happen? First, discarded chopsticks are collected from eateries all around the U.S. and Canada. At our Chop Shop facility in North Texas, we go through a detailed process to sort, sanitize, press and sand them.
That same facility is where each product is artisan-crafted to the eco-chic item you’ll use over and over in your home. (Want to see the process in action? Check out this video.)
Our upcycling production approach reduces energy usage, air pollution and water waste, and avoids greenhouse gas emissions.

Each unique and planet-friendly product is created with attention to detail and balances functionality, durability and design. You can also rest easy knowing only non-toxic, food-grade and formaldehyde-free finishes and materials are used.
What’s more, you’ll get to learn exactly how you’ve helped our planet! For each product, we’re proud to share just how many chopsticks are saved from landfill and how much carbon dioxide is avoided in the process.
Those numbers can be found on the RENEW website, but are also engraved on the back of each item – as a lasting reminder of how we all can make a difference in sustaining our amazing planet Earth!
The Chit Chat Coffee Table gives 4,666 chopsticks new life, which equals 499.78 pounds of carbon dioxide avoided.
